On-Grid Solar System

Independent, reliable solar power for your home

What is an On-Grid Solar System?

An on-grid solar system, also known as a grid-tied solar power system, is a photovoltaic (PV) setup that is directly connected to the public electricity grid. It enables the generation of electricity from solar energy while maintaining a connection to the utility network, allowing seamless interaction between solar power and grid supply.

On-grid Solar: Connected to the grid, no batteries required, helps reduce electricity bills and ensures clean, renewable energy usage.

Solar Subsidy For On-grid System

Under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Government of India, 2024-25), households installing on-grid rooftop solar systems are eligible for central financial assistance (subsidy).

System CapacitySubsidy amount Offered Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana
1 kW₹30,000
2 kWp ₹60,000
Above 3kWMaximum subsidy ₹78,000

Loan Facility

  • Many public and private banks offer 100% financing (loan) under government-supported schemes for on-grid solar.
  • The loan generally covers the entire system cost (after subsidy) or even before subsidy is disbursed.
  • Interest rates vary 6% depending on the bank and credit profile.

*Subsidy is capped at ₹78,000 for on-grid rooftop solar systems 3 kWp or higher.

Eligibility

  • The property must be residential and legally owned.
  • The solar system must be on-grid (grid-connected) and approved by your local DISCOM.
  • Installation should be done by a MNRE-registered vendor (listed on the National Portal for Rooftop Solar).

Advantages of On-Grid Solar

  • Reduces electricity bills by using solar energy and exporting excess to the grid.
  • Lower upfront cost compared to off-grid systems as no batteries are required.
  • Environmentally friendly, reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
  • Minimal maintenance required due to fewer components.
